Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn participates in the Croatia Forum 2014 (Dubrovnik, 10-12 July 2014)

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Jean Asselborn participated in the “Croatia Forum 2014” conference on the subject of “EU Integration of Western Balkans: State of Play” from the 10 to the 12 of July 2014 in Dubrovnik.

The Croatia Forum, organised by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia, gathered over 18 foreign ministers of EU member countries, Western Balkan countries, Eastern Partnership members and representatives of the U.S., Russia, China, Japan and New Zealand, as well as EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele and a number of analysts and public figures.

During his intervention at the Forum, Minister Asselborn recalled the strategic importance of the EU enlargement policy, which remains an important tool to promote peace, democracy and security in Europe. He also indicated that in the framework of the EU-Trio-Presidency, the Italian, Latvian and Luxembourg Presidencies of the Council of the European Union are determined to pursue the enlargement negotiations with the countries from the Western Balkans. Luxembourg will assume the Presidency of the Council of the European Union from July to December 2015.
